Essential Electrics
Anyone who does any work on an appliance that has an electrical connection should be able to prove their competence to work on electrics. This course will provide the necessary competence to satisfy the Electricity at Work Regulations.

Do I need this course?

The most likely answer is yes! If you do any of the following work then this course (or some other recognised form of competence) is required:
  • Remove any component from an appliance, eg Fan from a boiler to perform a service.
  • Replace a component in an appliance or system, eg pump in a combi or CH system
  • Use a multimeter to test parts of an appliance

Is this a Part P course?

No. This course just provides the basic competency to work safely on an electrical installation. It will prove that you can safely isolate a circuit, and work safely on a live circuit.

This does not provide a qualification to self-certify any electrical work, or do any other work that requires notification under Building Regulations. It also does not cover the installation of new equipment, only like for like replacement
